Find Your Rubber Duckie….

As a child I have fond memories of bathtime.  It was always filled with toys and occasional songs at the end of the day and was a great chance to hang out with my Mum, unwind and get ready for bed.

As we grow up, the rubber duckie is put away and we gain the independence to bath or shower ourselves.  As adults, time pressures often mean that the time it takes for a bath is traded for other activities.

Perhaps it is time to bring the bath back? (and even your rubber duckie if you fancy it!)

Why does a warm bath before bedtime help you sleep better?

In the hours leading up to bedtime, our bodies start to drop (imperceptably) in temperature.  This is one of the cues for our natural sleep cycle to kick in.

When you take a warm bath, your body temperature rises, your muscles relax and you can use the time to wind down from your day.

As you come out of the bath, your body tempreature drops and can hasten sleep.

It is good to take a both 1-2 hours prior to bedtime to get the full effect of the rise and then drop of your body temperature.

To get the full effect of both relaxation and body temperature change from your bath, you might like to enhance your bath with:

  • dim lighting
  • tranquil music
  • essential oils that are conducive to sleep like chamomile or lavendar
  • bath powder (you can buy one, or there is a reciepe in the “Sleeping Secrets Exposed” report, available for free on the right)

If  you can’t remember the last time you took a warm bath, or have never done so as an adult – give it a try – you may be pleasantly surprised.
