Get Into The (Snoozing) Groove

One of the techniques that promotes a relaxing vibe and good night’s sleep is music.  Of course, your usual taste in music may not send you off to sleep, but I think that’s all the more reason to try something new and find the music (beats…) that will send you snoozing

I am not a ‘groovy’ person by nature, but a friend of mine is and she suggested I try listening to something called “Ambient Electronica“.  I discovered that this is also called ‘downbeat’ or ‘chillout’ music and I found it strangely compelling.

Ambient Electronica” is a style of music which gently mixes an ongoing techno-style beat, a taste of house-style music for irregular progressions, and unique rhythms.  The soft melodies of  Ambient Electronica creates some great groovy snoozing (and actually very calming) sound effects.

Some of the artists you might like to check out are:Aphex Twin, Brian Eno, The Orb, and Future Sound of London

Brian Eno is widely credited with the invention of the term “Ambient music” in the 1970’s, but it has had something of a renaissance since the 1990’s.  Eno defined “Ambient Music” (this quote courtesty of Wikipedia) as “Ambient Music is intended to induce calm and a space to think”

So, I think it should have a place in everyone’s collection if you are trying to find a way to cure your insomnia.

Of course you can buy music just about anywhere these days, but for a pretty good range, check out : CD Universe’s Ambient Electronica collection.
