Get Your Body Moving

There are so many good reasons to exercise – heart health, weight control, ability to compete with others.  Take your pick, there is usually a reason that appeals to you.  However,  the best reason of all to exercise is that it can improve the quality of your sleep.

Exercise can help with both stress and anger management  – so when you are feeling really grumpy and stressed out – go out and get some excercise – cardio vascular is good, although there are also some interesting studies about using yoga too.

Ah…. I hear you say, but I am not really a gym junkie type, so why can’t I just sit quietly and get some sleep?  Well, if you are interested in insomnia help and treatment, and you’re not exercising regularly, then now is a good time to change.. and experience the difference.

Exercise early in the day, or before dinner – you don’t want to exercise too close to bed time, as that will increase your alertness, rather than decrease.  When you exercise earlier in the day, you use up frustrated / pent up energy and give you body a sleep inducing boost for later in the day.

Start slow if you haven’t been a regularly exerciser – walking is a great option.  Grab some visualisation CDs, or your favorite music and walk – at pace – for 30 minutes every day.  Your body will thank you for it and you may find, as I did, that I seemed to sleep better when i did.

But…. I hate exercising…. well – if that’s you, then you should definitely check out the self-hypnosis downloads  and patterning CDs that are now available to get your mind back in sync with your body.  Check out : Exercise Motivation or I love Exercise.  These audios are simple positive reinforcement and repetition of phrases that can help your mind (and your subconscious) catch up with your conscious desire to get more exercise (and actually want ot).  If you haven’t tried this before, its worth a go.  There is nothing spooky and subliminal about it – you can hear exactly what is going on, the whole way through, but it is surprisingly effective.  And, anything that can you get exerciusing will help you sleep and feel better for it!
